The clan Darkhaze is most certainly, out of all the clans of Nippon, the most treacherous and vile clan. Filled with undead and purely evil youkai, not many dare to venture into the territory where Darkhaze makes its bed. Members care little for others and aspire to fulfill their own dark ambitions. Only those daring or stupid enough to be allowed an audience with the Daimyo of Darkhaze are allowed to stay at a great and unfortunate price.
The clan’s central headquarters are in the ghost town of Sei-an, a once thriving village. Innumerable decades ago, Sei-an fell sway to an evil of questionable origin and purpose. Emptied of all human life, the village was left to rot in the hands of creatures foul. Thunderclouds rumble overhead endless and no sun light has touched in years, say those old enough or fortunate enough to recall. Ruined and in disrepair, Sei-an is home to demons of evil intent. The village houses a small number and is not frequently used by the Darkhaze clan. Instead, Darkhaze lurks in the system of caves and passages carved into the cliffs facing the sea underneath the rotting buildings. New structures were built to accommodate the members of Darkhaze, though they are not by any means in peak condition.
The primary structure is a mysterious pagoda built into the cliffs with hallways and rooms that shift haphazardly. Only someone who knows where they are going can make their way through without serious injury or death via the sickening traps that are scattered throughout the entire pagoda. Once free from such devices, a member of Darkhaze, or a very lucky demon or human, will find themselves in a grandiose chamber decorated with silks of claret and violet hues. Candles line the room and cushions serve as seats around an enormous oak table where Darkhaze indulges in the pleasures of drinking, dining, and plotting.
