Origins
One of his closest friends, Jakotsu was killed by one of his fellow Band of Seven members, Renkotsu. As punishment for killing Jakotsu, he killed Renkotsu. He is a skilled mercenary who slew 1,000 yokai and killed 1,000 warlords, and Banryu, in turn, became a demonic weapon able to release physical manifestations of its user's hatred in the form of demonic energy. Renkotsu had stolen Shikon jewel shards from Kagome which Bankotsu had forged into his halberd, Banyru, and made it stronger after his battle with InuYasha.
